  • What is Circle K?
Circle K is an international service organization. There's also a gas station by that name, but UCSD Circle K is a service club.

When are the General Body Meetings?
They are every Monday at 7pm, except for holidays when they are moved to Tuesdays at 7pm. The rooms change weekly, so keep updated!

What if I cannot make it to meetings?
Angela Phan, our Vice President of Administration, holds office hours every Tuesday at 4-6pm in front of Burger King. She can answer all of your questions then and keep you up to date with our events!

What type of events does Circle K do?
We do all types of service projects: environmental, working with children, elderly, at risk youth, soup kitchen, food bank, and other random events. If there's a service project you really want to do, you'll probably find it; if not, we'll make it happen. There are also non-service events that include the District Events, social events, interclubs, fundraisers, and more!

What are the big projects of UCSD Circle K?
There are a bunch of smaller weekly projects, but every year we have Masquerade Ball and our large scale service project. Masquerade Ball is an annual dance that UCSD Circle K holds aboard a yacht that goes from just before midnight to four am that raises money for Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP). The large scale service project varies by year, but this fall it will include planting a vegetable garden, having a health and safety fair, and painting a large mural! There are also large district events that we attend such as Crazy Kompetition for Infants (CKI) South, Fall Training Conference (FTC) and District Convention (DCON).

What are the tenants of Circle K?
Service, Leadership, Fellowship are the three tenants of Circle K International. We do service to our community, we strive to promote leadership within our members, and we create lifelong friendships.

Is Circle K a religious club?
No, although one of our tenants is fellowship, we mean that in the sense of friendship. We welcome people of all backgrounds.

What is the UCSD Circle K Mascot?
Crobie, a microbe. Why? Because WE'VE GOT THE CIRCLE K DISEASE!!

    What is the dues breakdown?
Dues are $37, where it is $25 to International, $9 to District, and $3 to our club. The dues last for the whole year.

What are the benefits of being a member?
For one thing you can attend district events (FTC, DCON), where we go and meet schools from all over Cal-Nev-Ha. There is also Kiwanis Luncheon, where we go to our sponsoring La Jolla Kiwanis Club's weekly meeting and get to hear a great speaker and eat good catered food for free! If that doesn't entice you already, there are scholarships available to just Circle K members that you can apply for!

How do I become a member?
We highly encourage everyone to attend at least 1 social and 1 service event before handing in their membership application. This is to ensure that you've actually met us and enjoy going to events with us. Furthermore, you will need to hand in your dues and membership form in at one of the meetings or give it to the Treasurer, VPA, or President at any other time.

    When is the membership period?
You are a member from October (or when you pay your dues) to September of the next year. The Circle K fiscal year is between March and the February of the next year

Where do we meet for events?
We meet at Sun God Lawn for service events, and Peterson loop for Kiwanis Luncheons, rides will be provided to the event. All rides are free and drivers get reimbursed at the end of the year.

What do the event times mean?
When chairs put down an event time, the start time is when you should meet at Sun God Lawn and the end time is the time you should be back on campus.

Do I have to go to all the events, are there any requirements?
NO and Yes. We encourage our members to come out to events when they have time and help out at large events, but they don't have to go to all of our projects. Yes because we really want people to go to at least 1 service event and 1 social event prior to joining.

What does Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum mean?
These are the levels of our MRP program, which stands for Membership Recognition Program, where members get awarded at DCON. Each level has certain requirements, such as a number of hours or types of events you have attended.

What is do you mean by Division and District?
UCSD Circle K is a club on the University of California, San Diego's campus. UCSD Circle K is part of a division, which is basically a group of schools relatively in the same area. UCSD belongs to the Paradise Division, which includes SDSU, Grossmont, and our "close" neighbors University of Hawaii, Manoa. Paradise Division is one of the 8 divisions of Cal-Nev-Ha (California-Nevada-Hawaii) District. The District holds large events every year, including Fall Training Conference (FTC) and District Convention (DCON).
